Privacy Policy
1. Who we are
This site is operated by Bluetect ([ABN — set this in admin Settings]). In this policy, "we", "us", and "our" refer to that entity. We are bound by the Australian Privacy Principles in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) in respect of how we handle your personal information, and we handle it in line with those principles.
2. What we collect
We only collect what an order actually requires:
- Order and delivery details — your name, email address, delivery address, and optionally your phone number. We need these to process your order, ship it, and contact you about it.
- Order history — what you bought, which phone model(s) you selected, and the amount paid.
- Payment information — handled by our payment processor, not by us. We never see or store your full card number. See section 4.
- Basic site analytics — including an anonymous, temporary signal that a visitor is currently browsing the product page, used only to display a live visitor count. It is not tied to your identity and is discarded when you leave.
We do not collect sensitive information (such as health or biometric data), and we do not ask for it. Please don't send it to us.
3. How we use it
We use your information to process and ship your order, to respond to support enquiries, to handle returns and warranty claims, and to meet our record-keeping obligations (for example, tax records). If you contact us about an order, we may refer to your order history to help you.
We will not send you marketing email unless you have asked us to. We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties.
4. Who we share it with
We share your details only with the service providers needed to fulfil your order, and only to the extent they need them:
- Our payment processor — receives your payment and billing details directly. Card details are entered on their secure infrastructure and are never transmitted to or stored on our servers.
- Delivery carriers — receive your name, delivery address, and contact details so they can deliver your parcel.
- Our hosting and database providers — store the order data on our behalf under their own security obligations.
- Government agencies or law enforcement — only where we are legally required to disclose.
Some of these providers may store or process data on servers located outside Australia. Where that happens, we take reasonable steps to ensure the recipient handles your information consistently with the Australian Privacy Principles.
5. How long we keep it
We keep order records for as long as we need them for the purpose they were collected, and for as long as we're legally required to (Australian tax law generally requires business records to be kept for five years). After that, we delete them or de-identify them.
6. Security
We take reasonable steps to protect your information from misuse, loss, and unauthorised access — including encrypted connections, access controls on our admin systems, and keeping payment card data entirely out of our own systems. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we can't guarantee absolute security, but we take it seriously and we will tell you if something goes wrong in a way that affects you.
7. Accessing or correcting your information
You can ask us for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, and ask us to correct it if it's wrong. Email [support email — set this in admin Settings] and we'll respond within a reasonable period, normally within 30 days. There's no charge for requesting access. We may need to verify your identity first so we don't hand your details to someone else.
You can also ask us to delete your information. We'll do that where we're not required to keep it (see section 5).
8. Cookies
We use a small number of cookies and similar browser storage that are necessary for the site to work — for example, remembering what you've added to your cart as you move to checkout. You can block cookies in your browser settings, but the checkout may not work correctly if you do.
9. Complaints
If you think we've mishandled your personal information, contact us first at [support email — set this in admin Settings] and we'll investigate and respond. If you're not satisfied with our response, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at oaic.gov.au.
10. Changes to this policy
If we change this policy we'll post the updated version on this page. Material changes won't be applied retrospectively to information we already hold without your consent.
This page is general information for Bluetect customers and is not legal advice. It was drafted with reference to Australian law and should be reviewed by a qualified professional before relying on it for a live store.
